Caitlin Gonzales

Welcome! My name is Caitlin and I’m an online therapist working with adult and adolescent clients (12 years and older) throughout the state of Texas. As an EMDR-trained therapist, I often work with clients who have a history of trauma. Trauma is unique to each person, and, when it has not been fully processed, it can show up in our lives as depression, anxiety, grief, unwanted personal patterns, and can challenge our relationships, identity, and boundaries. I am passionate about supporting my clients in healing from trauma, mastering tools to navigate their struggles, and to ultimately become more empowered to move closer to the goals in life they hold most precious.

A note on beginning therapy:

New things can be overwhelming, and it’s understandable that it might feel scary to take that first step. Your choice to seek out therapy, which may feel like venturing into the unknown, is a courageous one! Whatever you encounter in the therapeutic process, know that you will not be alone. The therapy space is your space, we will always move at a pace that feels right for you, working on healing the areas in your life that you decide need healing. You know yourself the best! I’m here to support you and guide the process as your mind and heart lead the way. I welcome you and look forward to walking with you on your road to growth and transformation.

A note for adolescents:

Being a teenager can be really hard. The word ‘hard’ doesn’t quite capture the experience, does it? The transition from childhood to young adulthood can be one of the most exciting stages of life - and it can also be one of the most challenging, frustrating, confusing, overwhelming, and agonizing stages of life. Therapy is your time, your space, your opportunity to explore all of it. Therapy is a place where you can be real, unfiltered, authentic, and transparent. Here you are safe, welcomed, and encouraged to show up just as you are, however you are.

A note for parents:

Being a parent is hard, too! It can be scary not to know how to help your kids when you see them struggling. I encourage parents to consider what a gift they are giving by seeking out therapy for their emerging young adults. Research shows that early mental health support has significant short-term and long-term benefits for children and adolescents, including the development of personal resilience, adaptive coping skills, better outcomes in school and social settings, lower risk of self-destructive behaviors, and much less risk for developing mental health problems in adulthood. Offering kids and teens their own safe, private, and nonjudgmental space to process, vent, problem-solve, and reflect on themselves and their futures can be a very transformative experience throughout the often chaotic and confusing process of growing up.
