Trauma Therapy & EMDR

Trauma-Informed Therapy & EMDR for High-Stress Professionals

How trauma shows up

Trauma doesn’t always come from a single dramatic event. Trauma and chronic stress can affect your body, mind, and relationships in ways that are often subtle or cumulative. For many, it develops gradually through repeated high-pressure situations, making decisions that affect others, facing ethical or moral challenges, or constantly managing emotions to keep functioning.

You might notice:

  • feeling constantly “on edge” or shut down

  • difficulty resting, even when work slows

  • intrusive thoughts or images

  • irritability or emotional reactivity

  • a sense of numbness or detachment

  • feeling disconnected from yourself or from people you care about

  • Changes in sleep, appetite, or energy levels

  • Avoidance of certain situations, people, or emotions

Many professionals minimize these experiences because they are used to pushing through, or because “others have it worse.” Even if your symptoms don’t fit neatly into one category, these experiences are common responses to prolonged stress or trauma. Therapy can help you make sense of these patterns and begin to find balance and relief.

What trauma-informed therapy means here

Trauma-informed therapy recognizes how stress and traumatic exposure affect the nervous system, patterns of thought, emotional regulation, and relationships. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work to understand how your system adapted to what was required of you, and how those adaptations may no longer be serving you.

I aim to create a grounded, trauma-informed therapeutic space that is attuned to the pace, pressures, and responsibilities of your life. Therapy is collaborative and paced to meet you where you are, helping you balance the demands of life with your emotional and mental well-being.

EMDR therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based approach that helps the brain process distressing experiences that may be contributing to ongoing stress, emotional reactivity, or feeling stuck.

EMDR does not require you to relive or retell every detail of what happened. Instead, it supports your nervous system in processing experiences in a way that allows them to become less emotionally charged and less disruptive in daily life.

EMDR can be especially helpful for professionals who:

  • Struggle to “turn off” their work brain or manage persistent stress

  • Carry memories, images, or moments that linger

  • Feel emotionally overwhelmed, numb, or shut down

  • Experience anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or tension

  • Want a structured, trauma-informed approach to processing difficult experiences

Therapy Services & Fees

I offer personalized trauma-informed therapy for adults and teens dealing with high stress, trauma exposure, or substantial responsibilities. Many of my clients hold positions that require them to ensure the safety and well-being of others, including medical professionals, first responders, therapists, educators, and caregivers. The teens I work with often experience high stress from managing responsibilities at home, school, or work.
